I love pizza marinara and this one was one of the best that I had. The dough was very chewy and the marina very fruity. The staff is very nice.

Last Saturday was a sunny day, pizzas enjoyed outdoors with fresh air and sunshine. Love the doughy, charred leopard print crusts: Diavola, Napoli and Quattro Stagioni hits all the right spots. Prices: Super affordable. We would gladly visit again the next time we are in Pisa.

We were walking by and saw some delicious looking pizza so decided to get one to take away - so glad we did! We are Vegan so had one without the cheese and it was a bargain at €6.50. The pizza was freshly cooked to order and we could also watch it being made, it had plenty of flavour and toppings. We are Vegan so had no cheese - even if you're not vegan i really would suggest you try one without cheese as you get the most of the flavours. The courtyard was cute with a real authentic atmosphere just off the main street. There weren't many tables so we couldn't sit to eat but the pizza made up for it. It also made for a few really nice photos in the area. Well worth a stop if you're around!

Excellent pizza, the crust was nice and fluffy with the right amount of chewiness. We also had a lasagna which tasted great. There was a violin player in the little square where the restaurant is to liven up the atmosphere.

Great place but the pizza was just ok, I most likely wouldn’t come back. Staff speaks little english so it was hard to communicate as we wanted to ask how long the pizza will take to bake and also wanted to pay straight away as we were very tight with time. The guy at the till seemed to have an attitude because he did not understand the word I said. The lady who was serving us was very nice on the other hand.

PIZZERIA DA MARIO – SUA MAESTÀ IL PANZEROTTO “A full kilometer away from the chaos, and worth every step.” If you want a truly transcendent pizza experience in Pisa, don’t follow the crowds swarming the Leaning Tower like moths to a selfie stick. Instead, walk a full kilometer away—yes, walk—and reclaim your soul at Pizzeria da Mario. This place is a sanctuary of sanity. No one is trying to sell you a bobblehead, laser pointer, or Pisa-shaped bottle opener. Just quiet, shade, and pizza that tastes like the dough was blessed by the ghost of a very picky Italian nonna. For just €10, you get: A proper Neapolitan-style pizza with a gloriously uneven, blistered crust that tells you it was born in a real oven—not a tourist trap conveyor belt. A cold drink served with respect. (Mine: a regal red can of Coca-Cola standing tall like a fizzy monument to good decisions.) A moment of peace in a tucked-away piazza where time slows down, and the only leaning is you, back in your chair, completely content. Pizzeria da Mario isn’t just a pizzeria—it’s a Pisan pilgrimage. You came to see a tower, but you’ll stay for this pizza. And you’ll be glad you walked that extra kilometer to taste what Pisa is really about. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Unbelievable margherita pizza, and then do a deal for one margherita and one aeperol spritz for €10. Unbelievable value, especially considering the quality!
